Westes: Well, it's like you said: they don't care. I almost want to say it's some sort of bandwagon mentality going on here. They praise characters most of the loud audience praises, and shit on characters most of the loud audience hates because it gets them thumbs-up, and they feel good when they do. I'll say this once more. Some claim the hate and slander come from the character(s) being too frequent. But if that was the case, any decent person would either leave a comment out of disappointment while maybe praising something about the art, or just leave it be all together. But no. Their hate for the character(s) is genuine no matter how rarely or often they appear. And the fact that these guys get backed up by a lot of people like them, give them little reason to stop bitching.
